Dusty Rowland
President and CEO
With over 20 years of industry experience, Dusty started his career as a property and casualty underwriter with USF&G in Syracuse, NY. He later accepted a production underwriting position with Sumitomo Marine, a large multi-national conglomerate in Los Angeles where he gained an in-depth understanding of Japanese business. In 1991 he moved north to Seattle, embarking on a brokerage career with a division of Rollins, Burdick, Hunter called Rollins Hospitality Services.
In 1995, he co-founded National Specialty Underwriters, Inc. (NSU), a Program Administrator specializing in the Hospitality and Healthcare industries. At that time, the hotel industry was struggling to find capacity for their liability exposures. Dusty and his partner created a competitive approach based on the fundamentals of group purchasing. That program would grow in 14 years to become the largest and most diverse proprietary hotel program in the country. In addition to his corporate management responsibilities, Dusty served as the lead producer throughout his time at NSU and closed out his tenure as Division Manager overseeing production for 2 offices and 25 employees. During his time there the hospitality program premium grew to over $50,000,000 and the company as a whole grew to over $100,000,000. In so doing, NSU established itself as a leader among program administrators nationally.
Dusty is a graduate of the State University of New York in Plattsburg. He serves on a number of advisory committees and charitable boards. He also coaches local basketball.
